Out

A last minute qualification for Goianienses, last season. They picked only a draw in last round, but benefited from a very surprising home defeat from competitors America against a lower team and here they are in the Top Flight of the Brazilian football. Atlético ill join their arch-rivals Goiás in Série A. The two teams from Goiás played at the same time in Brazilan top division only twice before (1986 and 2010). This classic Derby "Clássico do Equilíbrio" will thus be played in top flight context again. On top of seeming a bit far from over achieving in Série B, last season, Atlético GO wasn't able to bring many quality players to strengthen the team for this campaign. João Pedro in midfield and Renato Kayzer in attack are rare examples of players with decent performances in Série A, recently. Winger Everton Filipe is one of the biggest talents in the squad, and wil try to finally pick a good season after several underachieving years with São Paulo and Athlético PR. To make it even worse, Atlético haven't played a competitive game since March, as Campeonato Goiâno stopped due to pandemics and haven't resumed since then.

Target

Atlético is expected to struggle a lot during the season, and it will be quite an achievement to stay in Série A for 2021.
