Ended last season favourably, winning the Western Australia NPL. They beat Olympic Kingsway 2-1 in the final, aided largely by two red cards for their opponents. A fitting way to finish it, given that they topped the table before the play-off round began.
Ahead of the maiden voyage of the Australian Championship, they're the only club to say that they've not signed or sold anyone. There are arguments both for and against whether this is a good move or not. Simply put though, they have financial restrictions, moreso than most, and that's caught up with them here.
Again, because they don't have the same budget as many of the other teams playing in it. They've also got to factor in more travel time for them than any other participant, given their location in western Australia. They'll need to make the most of their home advantage to give them a fighting chance in this competition.
Likely to start the competition with some fire though. They tragically lost club legend Sergio Legni recently so they view it as playing for him. They'll need that additional energy and conviction if they're to mix it up with the bigger fish in the Australian Championship pond, which is precisely the situation that they find themselves in.
One bonus they have is that Chris Coyne has been in charge for over a decade now. He knows everything there is to know about this group of players, including how to get the most out of them even when they don't.
