Despite topping the South Australia NPL by quite some margin, they were gutted to lose the play-off final against Croydon. They thought they'd done enough when they equalised at the end but immediately conceded again to lose 2-1. An unfair outcome for the campaign they'd had but they lost their focus at a pivotal moment.
They've not reported any new acquisitions since their campaign ended a few weeks ago. Injury-prone centre-back Lachlan Barr is therefore their newest addition. Despite his injury-prone nature, he brings a substantial amount of A-League experience to the squad so if they can keep him fit, then he should be a good addition.
They should enter the Australian Championship with some confidence despite their disappointing final defeat. They were consistently good throughout their NPL South Australia campaign prior to that, no matter which type of opponent they faced. They were as mean defensively as they were lethal offensively, and should have plenty of cohesion due to limited changes.
The likes of Windsor, Woodfin, Cittadini, and Visser are still there so attacking shouldn't be a worry. As long as they can bounce back from their play-off final disappointment, they should be well-placed to succeed in this competition. They're not in the easiest of groups but they should fancy their chances with the players they've got.
Target
Should be aiming to reach the knockout phase. Could prove to be dark horses to win the competition if things go their way early on.
