Won the NPL Tasmania recently. They were pushed hard by Launceston City but nobody could really stop the islanders - they were too good at both ends of the pitch. As the season went on, they seemed to get more and more dangerous in front of goal - if they can keep that up then they should start the Australian Championship strongly. Still, this level of competition is not what they're familiar with - the Tasmanian NPL is arguably the weakest of the NPL competitions. They demonstrated in the Australian Cup that they struggle when they meet good teams, losing 2-1 at home against South Melbourne back in July. They need to step it up if they're to be successful in the Australian Championship. The club hasn't reported any departures of new arrivals ahead of this campaign so they should begin with plenty of cohesion. Peter Edwards has been appointed as their new manager ahead of this competition - he was in charge of the U18s at Sydney FC. It's unclear if he'll stick with the club's currently preferred starting eleven/formation at this point. He replaces Max Clarke, who was offered an opportunity he could not decline after being headhunted following steering the club to their first title win since 2017. The change of manager fused with being placed in a difficult group is going to make qualification challenging. Again, their level is considerably lower than that of most teams in this competition so they're likely to find it tough, and should realistically just be aiming to get out of the group alive.
