Brann were desperately disappointing last season and landed in a ninth place few would have envisaged before a ball had been kicked in the 2019 campaign. 10 wins, 10 draws and 10 defeats at least showed something of a symmetry, but it was far from a perfect one for Lars Gunnar Nilsen's side. They will have to do better this season if they are to harvest any goodwill from an expectant Bergen crowd. Nilsen has been given another chance, and he has wasted little time in changing things up front as Daouda Bamba and Veton Berisha were never on the same page in the final third. There were also flare ups off the field and a mood around the camp that did little for the results on it. Berisha has been shipped out to Viking and the club will now hope Bamba can knuckle down and focus on the football. He'll be assisted well by Gilbert Komsoon and Peter Strand who are capable of creating lots of chances. Another mid-table finish will not be tolerated and there's pressure on Brann to deliver much better than last year. They have the players to do it, but any title aspirations are sadly still very unrealistic given what they are up against.

Target

Hopes are always high around Bergen ahead of a new season, but Brann will have to do well to keep that enthusiasm going throughout the season. Prediction: 5th
