Haugesund enjoyed a pretty strong and impressive last season in which they earned some excellent results in Europe and went all the way to the Cup final, while always being in the top half of the league table. Yet the season ahead promises to be a challenging one for the Seagulls as they lost some vital players and the squad looks rather trim and devoid of experience. Jostein Grindhaug has proven effective and capable of utilising the talent at his disposal last season but the loss of Martin Samuelsen and Sondre Tronstad leaves the midfield without too many options. Players like Thore Pedersen and Nicklas Sandberg, along with youngster Kevin Krygard, excelled above expectations last season and are now expected to assume more responsibility in the team. One area of the squad that has certainly been bolstered is the attack as Benjamin Kallman and Alexander Ammitzböll bring competition for places and promise, while Ibrahima Wadji is due to return from a doping ban in a month’s time. Another positive is the return of defensive rock Benjamin Karamoko after missing the entire last season due to injury.

Target

Stabilise in mid-table and overall have the expertise to do so.
