Luzern made a very promising start to life to Fabio Celestini at the start of the spring season, but were unsurprisingly unable to maintain their excellent start under the former Lausanne and Lugano boss. Still, the Blues have at all times tried to play the attacking-minded brand of football that Celestini is known and their fans will approach the new season with cautious optimism. Celestini has managed in the top flight for long enough for a clear pattern to be visible - his sides look extremely good while in good patches, but the problem he has is that those are usually followed by prolonged periods of bad form and he has thus not really had a clear idea on how to halt those. Having Celestini in charge is thus a guarantee of entertainment, but there is a big question marks over how things will go in terms of results. What is clear is that the squad has not changed too much - the sole notable departure is the one of Blessing Eleke, while the players who joined are actually back from loan, with the Blues not signing a single player so far. The squad they have is certainly good enough to push for a top half place, but whether or not things will click under Celestini remains to be seen.

Target

Luzern enter most seasons with European qualification as their goal and this season will be no difference.
