Vaduz are back to the top flight after a three-year break and achieved promotion after getting the better of Thun in a two-legged play-off. This is no easy feat, as the Oberlanders were in midtable form in the second half of the season and were widely seen as the favourites in their clash with the Liechtenstein side. Unlike Lausanne, who have a proven top-flight manager with a number of top-flight players, Vaduz are a huge unknown going into the new campaign, having an inexperienced manager in Mario Frick and a squad severely lacking in Super League experience and completely lacking in players who played any sort of a notable role at this level. It will be very interesting to see how Vaduz will adapt to life in the first flight, given the all-attack football that they played last season. They had a scoring record nearly as good as Lausanne, who easily won the league, last time around, but were hardly impressive defensively, having conceded nearly 1.5 goals per game. It seems that Frick will need to change his approach to a more balanced one if his side are to stay up in the top flight. Time will tell whether he has the personnel and the nous to do that.
