Bordeaux really had a troubled summer as they only found out that they would not have disappeared from professional football due to administrative issues only 3 days ahead of the new season kickoff. Unfortunately for them, though, their nightmare is not completely over as, after 30 years, they will no longer be playing in the top flight of the French football. Last season was really a disastrous one for coach David Guion and his boys, who finished the campaign with a relegation and some regrets. After all, they ended up only 5 points away from salvation but the truth is that they were just too poor in the end, when they collected 2 wins out of the last 16 rounds. Their attack was a decent one, it was the 9th of the Ligue 1 with 52 goals, but their defence was just too bad, as they conceded 91 goals, 55 more than the best defences. Coach Guion was confirmed at the helm and he will have the task of leading Bordeaux back where they belong to, the Ligue 1: he only tasted Ligue 2 football once and brought Reims back to the top flight at the first time of asking. Due to the administrative issues and their uncertain status, Bordeaux did not really have any opportunities to act in the market. However, the relegation logically led to an escape of their most valuable players, goalie Costil and attacking midfielder Hadli among the others and more are liable to follow in the coming weeks. So far, they only managed to fully acquire the services of Ellis, a winger capable of 9 goals and 1 assist in 20 games, who was on loan from Boavista last season. The management announced that they are going to sign at least 7-8 more players and so it is really difficult to devise their strengths and weaknesses yet.

Bordeaux are obviously expected to be candidate for the promotion but they will logically have a slow start as they still need time to build their squad and it will take time for the players to gel.
