Mariehamn had a calm 2025. Finished full 11 points above the bottom 2 and despite not scoring many goals, only 34 in 32 games, earned enough wins to avoid any drama. Missed many players for long due to injuries too, which makes the calm season even more impressive. Coach Williams decided to part ways with some of those that spent large portions of 2025 absent due to health problems this winter. Raitanen, Reid, Cardoso, Muskwe and Olawale were released for that very reason. None of them managed more than 12 starts due to health problems. Losing bright young playmaker Niilo Kujasalo wasn’t part of the plans though and his departure will hurt the team. Haven’t signed an adequate replacement so it seems the home-grown Andersson is poised for a larger role in 2026. Striker Larsson was a prolific goalscorer in his first stay at the club and his return excites the fans. English striker Pearce is also an interesting new addition. He will likely be used off the bench in most games. Captain Sebastian Dahlström is expected to have much more attacking role this season with the addition of Greek anchor-man Dosis giving him that opportunity. Lack depth in defence but Nurmi re-qualified already from midfielder to a centre-back last year and he can be used when needed in defence. Keeping Lindgren fit and available will be vital for the defensive stability. With him on the pitch the Islanders were decisively better at the back last term.
