Football Season Guide

Krylya Sovetov enjoyed a brilliant campaign last season in which they were at times spellbinding in attack and played with fearless energy and drive, while using a host of young players. The main task now for the excellent manager Igor Osinkin, who has developed a real knack of getting the most out of talented young players by giving them a platform to impress, will be to consolidate on that excellent campaign and get even more consistent. The squad looks weaker ten days before the start of the season compared to last campaign as the two main attacking creators in Vladislav Sarveli and Anton Zinkovskyi moved to new clubs. No new additions have been made yet but there is still time for that until late August and there are indeed some good options for Osinkin in midfield and in attack as players like Aleksandr Kovalenko and Sergey Pinyaev may be ready to really blossom and show their talent with extended game time. There are more question marks in terms of the wide positions as there is little sort of depth there and the team may well need more options as a whole as they were lucky with injuries last season and there is no guarantee that it will be the same this time around. Overall, there is a good basis for Krylya Sovetov already but the squad does need a bit of more fresh blood to stay competitive in the top half of the standings.
