A disappointing campaign for Spartak Moscow last season as they finished in tenth place after finishing in second the season prior under Domenico Tedesco. Tedesco left to coach RB Leipzig and his replacement Rui Vitoria was sacked in December. Paolo Vanoli came in and did see his side improve their performances in the league as well as reach the final of the Russian Cup where they defeated rivals Dinamo Moscow. Former Basel head coach Guille Abascal will take over duties for Spartak for the upcoming season. There should not be too many changes to the starting line up for Spartak Moscow to start the season here. Christopher Martins Pereira has joined permanently after impressing on loan last term. Alex Kral may also rejoin the side following the end of his loan so midfield seems to be a strength here. Spartak will be hoping new addition Anton Zinkovskiy can add some much needed firepower going forward as he looks to add to his four goals and nine assists for Krylia Sovetov in the league last term. Maciej Rybus also adds some experience at the back. Players from Spartak 2 are also likely to join the squad and add depth. Samuel Gigot has left the club permanently now and he will be a big miss at the back. Central defence appears to be a weakness and may need to add more here later in the summer.

Target

Spartak Moscow will be aiming for a much improved season this time around and they have the squad to do so. A top half finish is a necessity.
