Football Season Guide

After a decent first half of the season last campaign, Kortrijk endured what can only be described as a nightmare second half. After the winter break they only registered one win in 14 matches, losing 10 of their last 11 games to finish 13th. The summer so far has not seen a complete overhaul of the squad as yet. Sainsbury and Palaversa are significant departures. The one exit that was expected during the transfer window hasn’t happened yet. Key man Selemani (13 goals last season) remains at the club, a move to Genk fell through over personal terms. In terms of incomings they look to have made some astute additions. Georgian international centre-back Tabize should take Sainsbury’s place in the starting XI. Former Belgian U21 international winger Bruno has had previous spells at Anderlecht and Charleroi. Playmaker Challouk is an eye catching capture, he has impressed in Belgian First Division B over the last five seasons and now gets his chance in the top flight. The main question mark over Kortrijk is have they moved on from their terrible run last season. They have stuck with the same Head Coach in Karim Belhocine, it is clear a lot of work needed to happen over the summer. They still look to have a makings of a competitive squad.
