Beerschot are back in the big time after seven years as the second club of Antwerp return to the top division of Belgian football. They were handed the opportunity to play there after the expansion of the division to 18 teams just a week before the start of the new season, rendering the impending promotion play-off game against Leuven, who are also getting promoted, mostly academic. Beerschot, in truth, have been one of the top teams in the second division in the last couple of years, and are very much deserving a chance of having a crack against the top teams in the country. They promoted club icon Hernan Losada to the role of a manager, his first such one, back in October and the Argentine has certainly been a success so far. Beerschot are yet to lose a game in 2020, going on a run of four wins in a row before the season was ended abruptly back in March. They have a good structure and play with five at the back while using pace in attack, where the front two combine nicely. The squad has remained mostly the same compared to last season and none of the key performers have left. The defence has been bolstered by the signings of Jan van den Berg and Dario van der Buijs and overall the squad looks pretty well-equipped for the challenges ahead.

Target

Should be able to steer clear of relegation without too many problems.
