Football Season Guide

As expected it was a season of struggle for newly promoted Seraing last season but ultimately they achieved their aim of staying up after coming through the relegation playoff. Head Coach Jean-Louis Garcia resigned after Seraing secured their top flight status. His replacement is Jose Jeunechamps who has vast experience of managing and coaching in the Belgian league and was previously manager at Seraing in 2016. As they are a satellite club for French side Metz, a lot of their squad last season was made up of loans from Metz, therefore these players have now departed. These include top scorer Mikautadze (nine goals) and key playmaker Maziz who both impressed last season. First-choice goalkeeper Dietsch has been loaned in for another year, whether any of the other players return remains to be seen. Their additions so far are primarily young players with little experience. The one vastly experienced arrival is that of Lepoint, a 37-year-old midfielder who played under Jeunechamps at Belgian second division side Mouscron last season. Whichever players they recruit between now and the close of the transfer window it is highly likely that Seraing will spend another season battling at the bottom of the league.
