Disgracefully finished at the bottom of the table last season despite having a strong squad. boss Dwight Yorke was forced to leave midway through the season. The Daniel de Silva situation was one of the main talking points at The Bulls pre-season, having opted to leave the club on a free transfer to pursue overseas opportunities. A month or so later, however, he re-signed for Macarthur FC. A big boost for them. Have made a plethora of changes pre-season so may take some time to get new recruits used to one another. Have lost two big attacking threats in Arabuli and Arzani. Despite a flood of signings, their most impressive acquisition was the re-signing of de Silva, although experienced French striker Germain is a good replacement for Arabuli, especially because of his intelligence and work-rate. For the most part, Macarthur FC’s new recruits were born out of cost effectiveness or what was available. Lewis will improve their set pieces, and Borges will lend a little unpredictability to their attack but neither are going to change the world for them. Most of Macarthur FC’s pre-season sales may not be seen as all that noteworthy on paper but they’ve lost good impact players like Toure, flexible heads like Noone, and a solid defender in Susnjar so they will be missed in one way or another. Mile Sterjovski has remained in charge after replacing Dwight Yorke in the middle of last season. The club seems to appreciate his capacity for giving youngsters a chance, and getting the most out of the players that were there, the latter of which Yorke struggled with, especially in Arzani’s case. Keep in mind that they’ll get Mexican playmaker Davila back from injury this season, who missed most of last season. He’s arguably their best player so that’ll be like a new signing for The Bulls. Overall, it’s a decent team with decent balance; nothing special, and nothing atrocious. A couple of excellent match-winners in Davila and de Silva, potentially being joined by Germain (if he settles). They’ll most likely want a play-offs spot (4-6) but it looks more likely that they’ll finish in the bottom half as there’s just not enough quality in their squad nowadays, and they do tend to lose fight/spirit as the season goes on.
