Football Season Guide

Despite struggling in attack and scoring just 39 goals, Nashville managed to finish seventh in the Eastern Conference. They boasted the best defence in the league with 32 goals conceded but didn’t manage to clinch home-field advantage, mainly due to their poor second half of the season. In offseason, Nashville signed former Los Angeles Galaxy forward, Tyler Boyd, who could be brought straight into the team’s attack. Meanwhile, midfielder Dru Yearwood joined to replace Dax McCarty, who failed to step up, while the rest of the additions came to beef up the roster. Most importantly, all key players stayed put, meaning that Nashville kept their backbone intact, especially in defence. There was an upgrade regarding the wingers, strengthening their flank with Boyd, who is more versatile than departee Fafa Picault. Unsurprisingly, their backline remains Nashville’s main strength, with Walker Zimmerman organizing the defence impressively well and Lukas MacNaughton stepping up last season. Yet, their main weakness may lie on their offense. Before last season kicked off, we mentioned that Hany Mukhtar needed some help up front. Nashville brought in Sam Surridge, but he didn’t live up to the expectations, having netted two goals in 11 games. The team may need a secondary attacking contributor to compliment Mukhtar.
