The summer 2025 was a crazy one for US Boulogne as they only found out that they would have played in Ligue 2 a couple of days before the actual kick-off of the season. With a squad simply inadequate for professional football, they started their campaign losing 5 out of the initial 6 games and failed to lift themselves off the bottom 3 until mid-January. Then, for 3 months they became almost unbeatable, succumbing only to Rodez and Clermont, and managed to achieve an unexpected salvation a few weeks before the end of the campaign. Having sealed safety, they lost the final 4 games, picking up a harsh beating at home by Dunkerque. Quite surprisingly, Boulogne owed their salvation mostly to their away performances, while they were far too fragile at home. While they had a decent enough defence, they were just hopeless in the attack, they hit the back of the net 34 times only, with no player capable of scoring more than 6 goals. Coach Fabien Dagneaux, in charge of the team since February 2023, made a bit of a miracle, considering how things stood back in September. He was logically confirmed at the helm also for the new season. During the summer, Boulogne lost many of the protagonists of the previous campaign. In particular, the defence was completely renewed with no less than 3 starters gone in centre-backs Gourville and Zohoré and left-back Burlet, returned to his parent club. Lenne should thus become a protagonist on the left while Brusco could also earn relevant playing time in the heart of the defence. This leaves them short of a centre-back, anyway. The attack was the other area which was heavily affected by departures since key winger El Farissi and both strikers Fatou and Capuano left the club. Hbouch could prove an interesting signing on the wing, if he returns to a decent shape, after leaving no mark at Annecy, while Besic, the sole striker arrived so far, is a non-entity for this category.

Target

Fight for their life. Still missing a prolific striker and lost quality at the back.
