In Brief

Away draw against Galo. The 1-1 was a good result in the end: Palmeiras didn't play so well, and direct opponents lost points as well. Palmeiras keeps their five points difference over 2nd place. Mayke, Diogo Barbosa and Dudu return from suspension. Moisés and Hyoran are confirmed out. Marcos Rocha might come back. Coach Felipão will be on the dugout, after all. Striker Deyverson is suspended.

Looking Back

Palmeiras gave another step forward, despite dropping two points. The visit to Atlético Mineiro proved to be very hard, and Palmeiras was behind the score for some time until Bruno Henrique scored from the penalty spot, with 13 minutes to be played.

As Internacional, São Paulo and Flamengo also dropped points, Palmeiras kept good distance over the rivals and with only five games to be played it seems very hard that the title will be running away from Verdão, at this point.

While five points is a big gap, the biggest reason for Palmeiras to be very close from lifting the trophy is that Verdão is still on an unstoppable form, unmatched by any of the rivals. Not even closely. Verdão is currently on a streak of 17 games without losing in domestic league.

Looking Ahead

Felipão will be relishing on the idea of having a squad closer to their full strenght with the return of three players from suspension. The full-backs Mayke and Diogo Barbosa as well as the key winger Dudu will all be available to face Fluminense.

The important playmaker Moisés got hurt during the match in Belo Horizonte, next Sunday, having left the pitch with a visibly swallowed foot. After some reassessment, it was cofirmed that Moisés has an injury and will need to stay out.

Right-back Marcos Rocha and the forward Hyoran missed the visit to Belo Horizonte on injury. While the full-back has some chances of returning, Hyoran was already ruled out as he continues in transition mode only after a knock on his right leg.

The striker Deyverson was on trial, this monday, being judged by incidents on the match against Ceará, played on the 21st of October. Deyverson was given a two games ban, one of which he served already. Deyverson will then be out of the match against Fluminense. Miguel Borja, already thought to be a possible starter, will be the leading attacker of Verdão, next Wednesday.

Points of Interest

Gaffer Luiz Felipe Scolari will be leading the team, this Wednesday, after all. He also picked a ban in the same court session, also related with the match against Ceará. However, the club hs appealed to the decision, and there was a suspensive effect conceded. Scolari will be on the dugout.

In Brief

Disappointing goalless home draw to struggling Sport. Fluminense is still not out of trouble. Ibanez and Sornoza return from suspension. Leo and Gum remain out. Ibanez is a last minute injury.

Looking Back

Fluminense had a very disappointing home draw against struggling Sport Recife. Flu lost a real chance of getting into a safer spot on the table and get the chance to breath more openly while looking at the very complicated schedule they have in front of them, at this point. While Flu still has a 6 points gap to relegation zone (can drop to 4 if Chapecoense wins today), Tricolores have to acknowledge that they will be having a very tough set of matches, ahead. Flu will be having three outings on their next four games, two of which against the top teams on the table. It will be hard for Flu to collect the points they miss this last Sunday by drawing in the one match the fans were expecting to win.

It was an overall poor match with neither side creating enough trouble to the opponent to get the score moving. There was a controversial decision from referee tht helped frustrating Flu's intents, but still one should be expecting much more from the Brazilian big team than a simply pale home display. The absences of the likes of Sornoza, not to mention the long gone on injury Pedro, were missed more than it should on a team with Flu's budget and ambition.

Looking Ahead

The attacking midfielder Sornoza will be returning from ban. It will be a very welcomed return as Sornoza has been higly influential in the team's creative department. His absence was deeply felt in the 0-0 draw against Sport Recife.

After having been some hopes related with the return of both Leo Morais and Gum, the duo of defenders will remain out on treatment.

Despite having returned from suspension, Ibanez won't be returning to action after all. The centre-half has picked an injury during Tuesday's session, and the medical tests revealed he has a stretched muscle injury which will rule him out at least from the match at Arena Palmeiras.

Points of Interest

Without Gum and now Ibanez on injury, it is very likely that coach Marcelo Oliveira will be keeping the back-four formation and not return to the team's favourite 3-4-1-2 one.
