Hugely impressive round 1 display brought biggest Premier League win in 3 years. Schelotto, Bissouma and Izquierdo long-term absentees.
Brighton made impressive start to life under new coach Potter. The 3:0 away win vs. Watford was Seagulls’ biggest top flight victory in 3 years.
The bench proved crucial for the win, with both Andone and Maupay coming on as substitutes to score goals. This was only second time in Premier League history 2 substitutes score in round 1 match.
Coach Potter must have decision to make now if to stick with veteran Murray up front or reward one of Andone or Maupay with start instead. Other changes unlikely.
Schelotto, Bissouma and Izquierdo are out injured, but no fresh issues.
Achieved 3 wins and 1 draw vs. West Ham since return to top flight.
Bad, but somewhat expected, defeat suffered in season-opener. Captain Noble remains out. Wilshere passed fit, but Haller and Anderson face late fitness tests.
West Ham simply couldn’t cope with Man City’s might in round 1 and somewhat expectedly 0:5 home defeat was suffered. Result a bit harsh on Hammers, who had decent spells in this match and offered attacking threat.
Defensive issues serious though, looked pathetic at the back vs. City and conceded 2.7 goals on average in pre-season too.
Coach Pellegrini can consider changes to line-up for this one, with Fornals likely to earn his first start in England. He could come on for Anderson, who limped off pitch last weekend and now needs assessment. Haller also facing fitness test due to knock.
Wilshere also suffered dead leg vs. City, but he is cleared to play. Captain Noble misses second game.
Last season opened campaign with 4 consecutive defeats and avoiding similar start is hugely important this term.
