Norwich City

In Brief

Delighted to record first win last weekend and going forward looked impressive so far. Drmic, Zimmermann and Hernandez sidelined. Klose and McLean passed fit.

Looking Back

Norwich impressed last weekend and deservedly won 3:1 vs. Newcastle. Pukki was the big star of the show with his hat-trick, but in general the entire team played well.

Young winger Cantwell has started both games so far and in both of them he has been the player that created the most scoring chances. Last weekend he assisted Pukki for 2 of his 3 goals.

Looking Ahead

Coach Farke unlikely to change much in his line-up after the strong display from last weekend, but as important centre-back Klose was declared fit he is very good option off the bench.

McLean could also replace Leitner in midfield, former shrugged off muscle issue quickly, but Zimmermann and Hernandez still unavailable. Drmic also won't feature.

Points of Interest

Had 4 England U21 players starting in both games so far and not afraid to trust home-grown talent.

Manager Comments

"I expect a different game to Newcastle. It's not Chelsea's style to sit back. They will be much more progressive and brave. We have to be prepared."

Chelsea

In Brief

Wait for first win under Lampard continues. Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi sidelined. Rudiger lacks fitness and also absent. Kante slight doubt.

Looking Back

Chelsea are yet to win under Lampard and naivety of inexperienced manager shown in the poor defensive displays so far. In all 3 games played (includes UEFA Super Cup) looked very shaky at the back.

Last weekend had lead at home vs. Leicester for long, but in the end had to work extremely hard just to save 1:1 draw, with the Foxes closer to the win in the final 20 minutes.

Looking Ahead

Coach Lampard knows that Rudiger’s fitness is still not great after long spell out and German won't be rushed back, this weekend set to play for U23s. Kante fresh concern after hurting his ankle in training, but he is likely to be involved.

Willian likely to make first start further forward, while it seems to be 50/50 between Giroud and Abraham as to who will lead attack.

Loftus-Cheek and Hudson-Odoi not expected back in training before September.

Points of Interest

Defensive efficiency has been dreadful so far, everyone at the back underperformed in first 2 rounds.
