Brighton and Hove Albion

Last updated: Sat 24 August 2019 08:23
In Brief

Confidence high after 2 positive displays in first 2 rounds. Schelotto, Bissouma and Izquierdo long-term absentees, but no fresh issues.

Looking Back

Brighton held to 1:1 home draw by West Ham last weekend, but once again display was good and for long periods Seagulls dominated. Trossard impressed on his Premier League debut and he scored the only goal.

Looking Ahead

Coach Potter will be tempted to keep same line-up as last weekend with no new injury issues and Trossard much more natural on the wing than Locadia.

Schelotto, Bissouma and Izquierdo are not expected back any time soon, but none of them seen as regular starter even when fit anyway.

Points of Interest

Haven’t beaten Southampton since 2012! In last 5 meetings between sides have 3 draws and 2 defeats, with both defeats at home with same 0:1 scoreline.

In Brief

Far from ideal start to season – back-to-back defeats. Manager enjoying clean bill of health. Lemina set to leave club.

Looking Back

Saints making slow start to season – 5 goals conceded and no points after 2 rounds.

Last weekend tried to be compact and hard to break at home vs. Liverpool, but conceding right before halftime proved costly and led to expected defeat.

Looking Ahead

Coach Hasenhuttl can’t be happy with his back line and he might consider refreshing his back 3 in third consecutive match. Plenty of options with squad at full strength.

Likely to revert back to 3-4-3 shape used in round 1, which will match Brighton’s formation. In that case Ings will lead attack, while Adams will operate on left wing.

Lemina in France ahead of almost certain move to Monaco.

Points of Interest

Last season captain Hojbjerg scored in both league matches vs. Brighton.
