Crystal Palace

In Brief

Premier League form solid, but fatigue major factor with team hit by injury issues during festive period. Townsend, Ward and Dann amongst 5 sidelined players. Also Van Aanholt, Cahill and Zaha doubtful.

Looking Back

Palace lost just 1 of 7 Premier League games during hectic festive period, but the many injury issues really pushed fit players to the limit in those fixtures.

Tiredness was again clearly visible on Wednesday in lucky 1:1 away draw vs. Norwich, with Eagles on the back foot for long periods in the match and only saving a point right at the death.

Looking Ahead

Coach Hodgson likely to give Wickham start in attack after he came off bench to score equaliser in midweek.

Sakho ruled out for long after midweek. Zaha unlikely to play due to fitness concerns, with Cahill and Van Aanholt also deemed doubtful. Added to that the 5 long-term absentees and it seems almost certain that at least 2-3 youngsters will get involved.

Derby County

In Brief

Derby claim Barnsley win. Wayne Rooney set to play again. Krystian Bielik suspended but Tom Lawrence available again.

Looking Back

Claimed excellent 2-1 home win over Barnsley on Thursday night as Wayne Rooney successfully came through 90 minutes of his debut.

Have now won last two after earlier run of bad form.

Looking Ahead

Rooney will be itching to play again especially at a Premier League club but Phillip Cocu is keen not to oevrload him.

Krystian Bielik is still suspended but Tom Lawrence is back available after serving a two-match ban. Matt Clarke surprisingly made his return to the side on Thursday too.

Ikechi Anya, Tom Huddlestone, Graeme Shinnie and Mason Bennett all remain out while George Evans is still doubtful.

Points of Interest

Woeful away league record with one win, four draws and seven defeats this term.
