Arsenal

In Brief

Inspired after impressive 2:0 home win vs. Man United. FA Cup might be best chance to qualify for Europe and strong squad expected to be used. Chambers and Tierney sidelined. Martinelli, Bellerin, Kolasinac, Torreira and Lacazette doubtful, but all trained ahead of game.

Looking Back

Arsenal started 2020 with great 2:0 home win vs, Man United delivered after arguably the best display of the season so far from entire squad. Luiz was instrumental in defence, Torreira and Ozil shone in midfield, while Pepe and Aubameyang looked very sharp up front.

Back-to-back strong displays under Arteta hint that Gunners starting to gather pace and ambitious new coach, this his first ever job as head coach, willing to experience FA Cup success too.

Looking Ahead

Coach Arteta set to use strong line-up as he knows wins build confidence. Fit-again Holding and Ceballos could all start. Bellerin also to be involved if as expected he is passed fit.

Kolasinac, Torreira and Lacazette struggle with fatigue and slight doubts, while Martinelli called for international duty by Brazil U23, but Arteta refused to let him go and he is staying. Still tight hamstring leaves him slight doubt.

Leeds United

Last updated: Wed 08 January 2020 19:52
In Brief

Leeds earn draw with West Brom. Eddie Nketiah departs. No new injury problems.

Looking Back

Leeds picked up a 1-1 draw at West Brom having led 1-0.

Form has deserted them of late though with just one win in five matches.

Eddie Nketiah has been recalled by parent club Arsenal in a bit of a blow for Leeds, who are likely to return to the transfer market for a replacement.

Looking Ahead

Leeds have a small squad anyway so it is difficult to see Marcelo Bielsa making mass changes for this game.

Patrick Bamford returned against West Brom as a sub on Wednesday and is available again. But Adam Forshaw and Pablo Hernandez both remain out.
