In Brief

Moved into the last four of the EFL Trophy with a win over Scunthorpe. Bryn Morris, Lee Brown and Ross McCrorie out. James Bolton suffered an injury in midweek. Cameron McGeehan cannot play.

Looking Back

Portsmouth progressed into the last four of the EFL Trophy after claiming a 2:1 victory over Scunthorpe.

Pompey have been in decent have been in fine form in the league lately and got back into play-off contention, but Kenny Jackett is expected to name a strong side in the cup.

Looking Ahead

Bryn Morris, Lee Brown and Ross McCrorie all remain sidelined by their respective injuries.

James Bolton has suffered an injury in the midweek game and is expected to miss out, leaving Jackett without a natural replacement at right-back.

Recent signing Cameron McGeehan cannot play, as he is on loan from Barnsley.

Points of Interest

Portsmouth remain the only side in their division that are yet to suffer a home defeat. Their home record reads 8-5-0.

Barnsley

Last updated: Sat 25 January 2020 17:04
In Brief

Diaby is unavailable while Odour and Bähre are expected to miss. Sollbauer joined the team.

Looking Back

Suffered a pretty resounding 3:0 home loss to Preston in midweek in the league as North End proved too good and claimed a commanding win, consigning the Tykes to their first home loss since Gerhard Struber took over.

Got the better of League Two high-flyers Crewe for a 3:1 away win in the FA Cup.

Looking Ahead

Head south to Portsmouth at the weekend as they aim to secure a decent result in the FA Cup and make it to the fifth round. It will be a pretty difficult test against a side flying high in League One.

Struber got some players back in midweek and can afford to make a few changes as he manages the load of a pretty thin squad. Yet Bambo Diaby will not be involved amid recent reports that he has failed a drugs test. Colin Odour and Mikael Steve Bähre are battling to be back fit for the game.

Struber made is third signing of the window and second from his former club as centre-back Michael Sollbauer arrived on the day before the game. Tommy Sibbick has meanwhile heard to Hearts on loan.

Points of Interest

Have not scored in any of the last three games away at Portsmouth, drawing 0:0 in their encounter last year.
