In Brief

Defending FA Cup trophy amongst priorities for rest of season. Sane remains sidelined. Stones and Mendy passed fit.

Looking Back

City have top 3 finish in league secured, but chances to win title non-existent and domestic focus for rest of season will be on retaining 2 cup trophies won last spring.

On Tuesday made to work hard for 1:0 away win vs. Sheffield United. Aguero continued hot scoring streak in this match, with Argentine now with 7 goals in just last 4 Premier League appearances.

Looking Ahead

Coach Guardiola set for traditional rotation, with young guns Garcia, Angelino and Foden hoping to be picked from the off.

Gundogan and David Silva also should be selected, both didn’t play on Tuesday, while Mendy and Stones might not be risked as they both only just over minor knocks.

In Brief

Held to frustrating 0:0 draw by Charlton in midweek and unable to move closer to top 2. Chase promotion and see FA Cup only as unwanted distraction. Big star Mitrovic, Kamara and Reed sidelined. Knockaert and Sessegnon doubtful.

Looking Back

Didn’t create enough in London-derby vs. Charlton on Wednesday and logically held to 0:0 draw. This prevented them from moving right behind top 2 in standings in race for direct promotion.

With promotion the big goal unlikely to put too much effort in what seems to be mission impossible in FA Cup. That said eliminated Aston Villa in previous round and reached at least round 5 of competition in 3 of last 5 years.

Looking Ahead

Coach Parker has to wait and see if any of ailing Knockaert and Sessegnon will be passed fit on time. He definitely missing top scorer Mitrovic, Kamara and Reed.

Cairney sloppy in possession post-Christmas and he could be benched due to that. Also back-up keeper Bettinelli could be given rare start between posts.

Points of Interest

Currently on run of 8 consecutive defeats vs. City. Last season met Sky Blues 3 times and lost all 3 games without even scoring – 0:2 and 0:3 in Premier League + 0:2 in League Cup.

Manager Comments

“We have a few injuries and we’re down to the bones in that sense. We have a considerable amount of injuries so we’ll field a team of fit players."
