In Brief

Grosicki may return but Pennington, Elder and De Wijs are all ruled out. Henriksen and Kingsley set to miss and Stewart and Toral are sidelined.

Looking Back

Played a mostly drab game away at Derby County last weekend in the league and fell to a 1:0 loss as their play-off aspirations took a hit.

Had a real test at Rotherham in the third round of the FA Cup but came through with two late goals to earn a 3:2 win.

Looking Ahead

Have a big game in the fourth round of the FA Cup as Chelsea come to town in what should be a big occasion for the fans and this young team as a whole.

Grant McCann has a real defensive crisis ahead of the game as Jordy de Wijs, who missed out with knocks last weekend, will be out for another fortnight. Also, CalluM Elder and Matthew Pennington picked injuries in training and will also miss.

Markus Henriksen and Stephen Kingsley are expected to remain out injured. Jon Toral and Kevin Stewart are definitely sidelined. Kamil Grosicki is expected to be passed fit for the game after missing last week.

Points of Interest

Hull played against Chelsea in the Cup just two years ago and are overall on a seven-game losing streak over the years against this opponent.

Manager Comments

McCann: "“This is a great game for us but Huddersfield and Brentford is more important for me, it really is. They’re the big ones. The league games are the priority. This is a nice bonus. We’ll look forward to the game and we’ll try to win it, of course we will. We won’t go out there with any other intention than that."

In Brief

Frustrated in 2:2 draw vs. ten-man Arsenal. League form poor for more than 2 months (W4 D2 L6). Loftus-Cheek, Abraham and Pulisic sidelined. James doubtful.

Looking Back

Chelsea threw away lead twice in city-derby vs. Arsenal on Tuesday. In the end 2:2 draw frustrating outcome for Blues as they had numerical advantage for more than an hour. Once again forward actions were unconvincing.

With just 4 wins in last 12 rounds in league Chelsea badly need confidence boost and going deep in FA Cup is one way to get it. In previous round achieved easy 2:0 home win vs. Nottingham.

Looking Ahead

Coach Lampard certain to rotate with not many that started on Tuesday likely to do so again in this one.

Top scorer Abraham hurt his ankle vs. Arsenal and will miss, but James close to being passed fit. Loftus-Cheek and Pulisic still not training with group.
