Game Report

Highlights

Perfect start for Antonio Conte and Inter Milan as they destroyed newly-promoted Lecce. New signings Romelu Lukaku and Stefano Sensi were on the scoresheet along with old stalwarts Marcelo Brozovic and Antonio Candreva.

Detail

Despite the hype around Inter, the newly-promoted side came to the San Siro with no fear and almost caused an early shock. Samir Handanovic was forced to come charging out of his box to tackle Gianluca Lapadula and was relieved to see the striker's effort headed off the line by Milan Skriniar.

The hosts soon settled and took complete charge of the game with two wonderful goals in quick succession. Brozovic curled in a sumptuous finish from outside the box and then Sensi danced between defenders before drilling in the second.

The Nerazzurri eased off after getting the second goal and allowed Lecce off the hook - much to the chagrin of Conte on in the dugout.

The big moment the San Siro was waiting for arrived as Inter's record signing claimed a debut goal. Gabriel Vasconcellos spilled Lauturo Martinez's shot straight out to Lukaku who tucked away the rebound.

A great performance was capped off by the pick of the goals from Candreva. The Italian took aim from 30 yards out and fired an unstoppable shot into the top corner.

Summary

Inter Milan couldn't have asked for a much better start to the season and they will hope to use this performance as a platform to spring from. Lecce adopted a brave but ultimately naive approach of trying to go toe-to-toe with a much better team.
