Game Report

Highlights

FC Cincinnati made it two wins out of two as a clinical display on the road helped them register a 2-0 win at New England Revolution.

Detail

With as many as five first choice players missing, Cincinnati were understandably cautious in the opening stages of the match though they did draw a decent save out of Brad Knighton before the 10-minute mark

New England too were taking their time to settle down but started to exert control on the proceedings midway through the first half with Bunbury, Zahibo and Caicedo all trying their luck but were unable to make Richey work

It was Cincinnati who nearly found the breakthrough before the first half with Knighton doing well to punch away Ledesma's freekick but spilling the resulting corner into Deplagne's path but the defender smashed it high of the open net

The visitors did grab the lead right on the stroke of halftime with Manneh starting the move as he played the ball out wide to Saief before continuing his run to slot home the midfielder's low cross into the box.

New England came out attacking in the second half with Fagundez missing a great chance from inside the six-yard box while Richey came up with a couple of crucial saves to keep his side in the lead.

The visitors tightened their grip on the game with a second goal soon after the hour mark with Manneh returning the favor as he supplied the final ball for Saief to prod home from a point blank range

New England tried their best for a late fightback but were unable to get a goal, ending the game empty handed.

Summary

New England will feel a bit hard done by the result after edging the game in terms of chances but lacked the clinical touch displayed by Cincinnati who made most of the few chances that came their way to register another excellent win
