Game Report

Highlights

LA Galaxy gave their playoffs hopes a big boost as an improved second half performance helped them snap a three-game losing streak with a hard fought 2-0 win at home to FC Dallas.

Detail

It was a quiet beginning to the game with neither side really able to take control of the proceedings in the opening stages though Dallas did create an excellent opportunity around the 15 minute mark only for a combination of Bingham and the crossbar denying Mosquera

Chances were at a premium for both the teams though Dallas did enjoy better of the limited opportunities that came their way while at the other end Ibrahimovic nearly tricked his way past a crowd of Dallas defenders only for a last ditch block by Hedges denying the attacker in the final minutes of the first half.

It was more of the same in the second half with both the teams largely limited to long range efforts until Ibrahimovic finally broke the deadlock midway through the second half, slotting home a first time finish after being unselfishly played in by Skjelvik

Dallas tried their best to get back into the game but it was LA who put the game to bed with a second goal soon after with Ibrahimovic converting from the penalty spot and the attacker nearly completed his hat trick deep in injury time only to be denied by Gonzalez.

Summary

A crucial win for LA against a Dallas side that is a direct rival for a place in the playoffs spot though they will need to find consistency if they are to ensure a comfortable end to the regular season
