Highlights

Dani Ceballos was the star of the show as Arsenal secured a hard fought victory over Burnley. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the match-winner again for the Gunners after Ashley Barnes had cancelled out Alexandre Lacazette's opener but Ceballos stole the plaudits with two assists and a fine individual display on his home debut.

Detail

A bright start from Arsenal as Ceballos dictated play from midfield with lovely close control and change of direction. The Spaniard's corner found Lacazette who turned in the box and fired a shot through Nick Pope's legs.

For all Arsenal's pretty football, it was the visitors who had more efforts on goal in the first half. Their direct approach with high balls and crosses into the box caused the Gunners' defence all sorts of problems.

Burnley got what was a well deserved equaliser just before half-time. Dwight McNeill's deflected pass fell kindly for Barnes who finished it off.

Unai Emery deployed record signing Nicolas Pepe for the second half and he showed glimpses of brilliance with his direct running and trickery. He set up a chance for Aubameyang which was kept out by Pope, who also saved from Ceballos.

Arsenal had been knocking at the door and eventually found the second goal. Great determination from Ceballos won the ball back and teed up a shooting chance for Aubameyang which he buried from outside the box.

Summary

Arsenal displayed character and determination in the second half to push for the win against stubborn opposition. Burnley were competitive for long periods but outclassed in the end.
