Game Report

Highlights

Ricarlison scored twice as Everton eventually overcame plucky Wolves in a thrilling game. The visitors twice came back from a goal down but Richarlison's late header settled the contest.

Detail

Wolves travelled to Goodison Park after a European game on Thursday night and there still appeared to be some tired legs and minds in the early stages. A terrible mix-up between Conor Coady and Rui Patricio allowed Richarlison to open the scoring.

Adama Traore continued in the wing-back role for the visitors and once again showed both the positive and negative sides of his game in that position. His surging run and cross set up Romain Saiss for the equaliser but the Spaniard failed to track Alex Iwobi who headed Everton back in front immediately.

The tempo of the game dropped after a frantic start. Wolves started to look like a tired side but the hosts weren't taking advantage of that.

Everton were punished on a long throw. Willy Boly flicked it on to the back-post where Raul Jimenez arrived to bravely head into the net.

Concession of the goal sparked the Toffees back into life again. Lucas Digne bombed forward from left-back and stood up a cross which Ricarlison met with an excellent header into the corner.

Summary

A determined and resilient performance from Everton who didn't let their heads drop after conceding the two equalisers - instead they responded immediately to those disappointments. Whenever it looked like Wolves had got themselves back into contention, they conceded again.
