Game Report

Highlights

Heung-Min Son scored twice as Tottenham destroyed Crystal Palace in a comprehensive victory. The game was over by half-time as Spurs raced into a four goal lead and it should have been more after the break.

Detail

The early signs weren't good for Crystal Palace. The returning Mamadou Sakho got caught under the flight of Toby Alderweireld's floated ball and Son collected it to open the scoring.

Son was floating around the pitch and was a nightmare for the visiting defence to pick up. The South Korean received the ball centrally and played in Serge Aurier whose cross from the right deflected in off Patrick van Aanholt.

Aurier provided a great outlet on the right for Spurs. He set up another goal with a cross to the back-post which Son fired in first-time.

It was 4-0 before half-time with another well worked goal. Son started the move again and Harry Kane crossed for Erik Lamela to convert.

Palace would have at least been looking for an improvement in the second half but almost conceded a fifth straight from the kick-off. Sakho gave the ball away and Vicente Guaita was forced to save from Harry Winks.

Sakho's return from injury was a pretty disastrous one. He was left for dead by the sensational Son who almost scored from an outrageous angle.

Summary

Tottenham were at it from the first whistle and got the job done with ruthless efficiency. Crystal Palace didn't help themselves with a shambolic defensive display and they were lucky to only lose by four.
