Game Report

Highlights

Leeds moved up to 2nd as they got the better of Birmingham 1-0 in a game that lacked much fluency. Kalvin Phillips scored the second half winner to give the Whites a lift after an inconsistent run of results. This was another disappointing away performance from the Blues and it is that side of their game that is letting them down lately.

Detail

Both sides opted to name unchanged sides for this game.

Leeds certainly had the pick of first half chances with Ezgjan Alioski, Stuart Dallas and Helder Costa all having opportunities.

Patrick Bamford disappointed for the hosts though and was hauled off by ruthless Marcelo Bielsa at the break with Eddie Nketiah his replacement, although he fared little better.

Eventually though a winner came as Maxime Colin slipped and Jack Harrison took advantage playing in Phillips to score.

Birmingham did not offer a great deal although the impressive Jude Bellingham forced Kiko Casilla into a late save with a shot from distance.

Summary

Not the best of games and Leeds are still grinding out results rather than looking particularly effective. Birmingham will be worried about their disappointing attacking displays on the road.
