Game Report

Highlights

Marcus Browne scored late on to give Oxford a deserved point against Sunderland. A point was the least the hosts deserved, having been the more active side throughout, with the visitors scoring their goal against the run of play.

Detail

Oxford were clearly the better side in the early stages, but Jordan Graham fired narrowly wide, while visiting keeper Jan McLaughlin produced a couple of superb saves.

Sunderland took the lead completely out of the blue on 34, when Jim Dunne scored after a corner.

There was more of the same after the goal, as Oxford kept doing the vast majority of attacking.

However, the U's were up against an inspired McLaughlin, who produced two more excellent saves after the side change.

The hosts' efforts were finally rewarded late on, when Browne turned in a Jerome Sinclair pass.

Summary

A limewire display by Karl Robinson's men, who kept going and were rewarded for their efforts in the end. On the other side, Sunderland's display will worry Jack Ross, to say the least. The Black Cats have been badly struggling for goals for a while now.
