In Brief

Sabitzer may start. Formation/personnel changes not likely. Still no Kerschbaumer. Tijani has joined.

Looking Back

Made it clear from the start that they'd headed to the capital purely for a point, and did precisely that by drawing 0-0 with Austria Vienna, although they could have impudently nicked it at the death via Sabitzer. Barely gave any chances away throughout.

Looking Ahead

Novak is carrying a knee injury. Jasic, Veratschnig, and Baumgartner's presence makes Novak's injury somewhat irrelevant.

Experienced midfielder Kerschbaumer was yet again absent without any reason given last match. His absence forced the debut of Altunashvili. The former would be missed if absent again.

Although incredibly painful viewing, their defensive 5-3-2 worked a treat against Austria Vienna. Now they're up against the best attack in Austria, there's no reason to believe they'd change anything defensively. May introduce Sabitzer in attack as they really didn't offer anything going forward last match.

Midfielder Tijani has joined on loan. Unlikely to make his debut against his parent club after only being at his new club for a couple of days, if the away team even allow him to play.

In Brief

Ulmer, Fernando, and Koita return. Terzic is 50/50. Piatkowski returns.

Looking Back

Won 5-1 against tricky TSV Hartberg away from home despite missing almost as many players as most Bundesliga clubs have in their squad. Their starting eleven was the youngest in Bundesliga history, not that you'd know it from their mature showing. Harsh on TSV Hartberg but Salzburg were too clinical.

Looking Ahead

Their defensive worries are less galling now. Solet and Morgalla remain injured, but Piatkowski is back after tonsilitis, and Terzic is 50/50 after injury.

Rotation options Guindo and Omoregie are injured. Neither are missed.

Attack is still a problem with Sucic out, and now Ratkov too after sustaining a thigh injury against SCR Altach. Koita and Fernando's return makes their attacking a lot less problematic, not that Konate and Simic have been struggling! May be too early for Koita and Fernando to think about starting, however - a bench role is likelier.

Backup CB Okoh suffered a bad injury in the game against Internazionale, and may not play again in 2023. Young defender Wallner will most likely be out for the rest of August, having picked up an injury in the same match. Neither are missed at this time.

Midfield regular Capaldo is closing in on a return from injury but won't play; a big blow, considering their lack of personnel. Backup CM Diambou will be out for a long time with injury too.
