Austria Klagenfurt

In Brief

Robatsch, Binder, and Soto two weeks away from training. Irving move close to being confirmed although he will stay on loan. Arweiler should return, as should Menzel.

Looking Back

Picked up a good point in the capital before the international break, drawing 2-2 with Austria Vienna. Felt like points dropped though; they were winning until a late leveller.

Looking Ahead

Long-term casualties Robatsch, Soto, and Binder have been given the all-clear to return to team training in a week or so. None should be missed. New midfielder May is going to be out until at least October though, which is when he's due another examination.

Unlikely to make changes (other than Arweiler for Jaritz and Menzel for Knaller) after a really strong display against Austria Vienna so Gemicibasi may be benched again.

The club is now solely awaiting permission from West Ham United to announce that key midfielder Irving has agreed a transfer to the English club, although he will remain in Austria on loan until the end of the season.

Regular shot stopper Menzel missed the last match at the last minute because of illness. He should be able to play now.

In Brief

Stojkovic/Michorl struggling to get near the squad. Havel pushing for a start. Kone situation unclear.

Looking Back

Laboured to a 2-0 win against Austria Lustenau last time out, only managing to break the deadlock deep in the second-half. Dominated, but struggled to create. Only really threatened more after Havel's introduction.

Defeated Dynamo Budweis 5-4 in a friendly during the international break. Were largely in control but got sloppy near the end. Rotated squad.

Looking Ahead

Rotation options Taoui, Anselm, and Wiesinger are injured/recovering from injury. Taoui is a long-term absentee. The others are back in training after lengthy periods of absence. None of them would be missed.

Still no sign of new midfield loanee Darboe - unlikely to change here, having only managed 39 minutes in a recent friendly.

Rotation attacker Pintor picked up an injury in the win against Austria Vienna. Unclear how serious it is. Shouldn't be missed; they've got plenty of depth.

Regular RB Stojkovic keeps being omitted as he's been somewhat usurped by Flecker (and even Ba) since the formation switch to 3-2-2-2-1 to incorporate their strong CB trio. Not injured, though - played in their midweek friendly. Also omitted from their European squad, which bodes ominously.

Midfield regular Michorl was again a surprise absentee last match; no explanation has been given as of yet but isn't injured - played in a midweek friendly. They've got good depth so he shouldn't be missed. Doesn't seem likely to change; has been omitted from their European squad recently too.

Rotation options Jungwirth and Bello may be omitted.

Young attacker Havel pushing for a start following impressive showings lately. He's breathed life into what has become a very stale attack. His task has been made easier by the quizzical omissions of Kone in most matches of late for which there is yet to be an explanation. Usor/Mustapha may find themselves on the bench whilst the club addresses its weakest area this season.
