After Allardyce’s old-fashioned tactics didn’t impress anyone last spring Everton finally got the manager they wanted ever since last September during this offseason. Marco Silva arrived at the club adored by fans and Board, which should help him being bold and adventurous in his approach. The most important thing Silva did soon after arriving was to get rid of Rooney’s devastating paycheque, which freed a lot of funds for future signings. Silva already made one big capture, he transferred in winger Richarlison after initially bringing him to England from Brazil last summer. The explosive player is very likely to play a key role in Silva’s 4-2-3-1 formation, with playmaker Sigurdsson also hoping to have a much better campaign as Silva seems ready to trust him with complete freedom in the number ten role. Everton have an aging defence and they had problems last season with the amount of goals that were conceded, but the Toffees are expected to sign a new centre-back soon, after already adding Barcelona’s left-back Digne to their squad, and this is expected to improve things. Pickford also should only be getting better with each passing campaign and England’s new star goalkeeper is ready to shine even brighter between the posts this campaign. To address even better the issues at the back coach Silva made excellent deadline day business with the arrivals of two more centre-backs on loan (Zouma from Chelsea and Mina from Barcelona) likely to see veteran Jagielka dropped to the bench. Schneiderlin and Gueye are proven holding midfielders, with the signing of Gomes also from Barca providing Silva with an excellent alternative option. Coach Silva is known for his desire to play open and aggressive football, which should be liked by the fans of the Toffies, who also have the potential to see lots of goals scored by Everton this season. With the likes of Bolasie, Walcott, Richarlison, Bernard and Calvert-Lewin all battling it out for playing time down the two wings and proven poachers like Tosun, Niasse and Sandro lurking inside the box Everton’s scoring record should be much better compared to last season.

Target

Aiming for a top six finish and even if they miss out on it should be good enough to enjoy top ten existence throughout the campaign.
