Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the goal put in front of him for the new season is to win the Premier League and with the significant strengthening of the ranks that took place Liverpool look like the real deal once again. The winter capture of Van Dijk for the heart of the defence and the summer arrival of goalkeeper Alisson should see the Reds having a much better defensive record this season, with their midfield also strengthened seriously despite Can’s departure. Both Fabinho and Keita are much better players than Henderson and Millner, with the new duo expected to play crucial roles during the campaign. No comments are needed for Liverpool’s Fab Trio up front and even if Salah doesn’t score 40+ goals this campaign, between them the Egyptian, Fimrino and Mane should be almost impossible to contain as usual. Sturridge is also hoping to return to former glory in attack, with the striker likely to remain at the club and become a very useful substitute option. Keeping faith in the 4-3-3 system Klopp knows that he needs to work on his team’s concentration for the matches against the lower teams in the division as this has been Liverpool’s Achilles heel for the past two years. Breaking teams that sit very deep has been an issue, but with Keita and Fabinho capable of much more creativity compared to Henderson and Millner this shouldn’t be happening so often from now on. Back in 2016/17 Liverpool didn’t lose any of their 10 league matches vs. their direct top-six rivals, while last season the Reds were the only team to beat champions Man City in the Premier League, with Klopp’s men also eliminating the Citizens in the Champions League. All this comes to show that the quality is as high as it could be compared to the direct rivals. Oxlade-Chamberlain will be sidelined for the entire campaign, but this was addressed with the signing of Shaqiri and the pushy winger could be a useful option off the bench.

Target

Liverpool are determined to focus on winning the Premier League this season and after the impressive investments made during the summer the Reds might finally bring their fans the title they desire after decades of painful waiting. Top three finish seems guaranteed in any case.
