Football Season Guide

Den Bosch had a strong season as a whole as they just about got through into the playoffs for a second season in a row. They were not exactly boasting a host of talent but were always up for a battle and managed to accumulate enough by the end to secure a tie with Almere City, where they eventually got easily beaten. They now start with a new man in the dugout as Bart Schreuder has been appointed back before the end of last season and comes in with a task of making this team more than a sum of their parts and be one again part of the sides competing in the top six. The squad looks generally in decent knick as most of the starters from last season have been retained. Notably, among them is Kevin Monzialo, the leading scorer from last season who was attracting serious interest throughout the last window but is so far staying up. Nick de Groot and Teun van Greunseven are both a serious loss at the back and Thijs van Leeuwen was also a quality option to have in midfield but there are not the sort of losses that should derail a team. All of the new additions are young players with desire to get an opportunity to play and Screhuder will want to maximise what he has by being proactive and encouraging attacking football. Apart from Monzialo, Jack de Vries and Sebastian Grach showed enough to give the fans encouragement in the final third. The bigger worry is at the back where Stan Maas and Reda Akmum do not exactly inspire too much confidence while new addition Jasper van Heertem is more of an established player but he has not played a professional game since September 2023 due to various injuries. Den Bosch has the outlook of a side that should provide a stern test to most teams on their day but their floor is quite low as well if a few players are missing and at best can hope to just get into the play-off again.
