Last season was another turbulent year for 1860 München who only survived late in the season with a win over Paderborn who would go on to finish bottom of the table. The Munich club start the new season with a new coach and the aim of not being involved in the relegation scrap for the third year in a row. The man chosen to take Die Löwen forward is former Kaiserslautern coach Kosta Runjaic who has plenty of experience at this level, even if he has never really found sustained success with any of his teams. The summer has seen an exodus of players from the team as the new coach has sought to cut the squad down to a manageable side and bring in some more proven players in the German leagues. With that said the exits of Christopher Schindler and Rubin Okotie who were two of the few players last season to make a positive impact will hurt the team this season and will need to replaced. Okotie was their top scorer last year and his goals will need to be replaced if they are to have any chance of an improved position. Runjaic has looked to add players who have experience in either of the top two Bundesliga including veteran strikers Ivica Olic and Sascha Mölders, who was at the club last season on loan. Karim Matmour and Fanol Perdedaj have also signed up who have also played in this league before. In addition though there is a bit of flair with the signings of Victor Andrade on loan and young Serbian right back Filip Stojkovic who is highly rated. 1860 have once again rolled the dice with a new coach and have given him their backing but that has been the case in recent years without any let up from their troubles. Whether the club will stick with their new coach remains to be seen though as the first sign of trouble is likely to cause confidence to drop in the team. The squad possesses at the very least a bit more experience and that should serve them well but the most the club can hope to achieve this year is simply to avoid the relegation fight and look to build for future years.

Target

1860 will want to avoid the relegation fight and consolidate their position in the league.
