HamKam certainly had to work hard and dig deep but the newcomers avoided immediate relegation last season and at the end finished just above the bottom three. They never looked convincing in attack but Jakob Michelsen constructed a solid and compact enough side that managed to stand firm and get enough points to stay up. The squad looks vastly different now compared to last season as a plethora of regulars have moved on and it remains to be seen if the team's transfer dealings in the off-season have been smart enough. Losing key players like Morten Björlo, Vetle Skærvik and Hasan Kurucay is bound to hurt the squad as they were all embedded in the way HamKam have been playing in recent years and the new faces will need some time to bed in. The Green and Whites have indeed made some smart additions as Vålerenga pair Brynjar Bjarnasson and Hendrik Udahl are definitely quality players who are just in need of a platform to show their talent. Marcus Sanderg should be the new regular goalie and is quite a reliable one while Jens Martin Gammelby should provide quite a lot down the right wing-back role. The forward positions seem like the most problematic area of the squad as 32 year old Pal Kirkevold and Jonas Enkerud will be the ones who will have to provide the goals alongside Udahl and none of them have been especially prolific. The team will again rely on the back line doing enough to earn them points but it is set to be a slog of a campaign and relegation is certainly an outcome that cannot be discounted.
