Haugesund come off another season in which they managed to do enough to steer clear of relegation without really pulling any trees or impressing in any meaningful manner. Jostein Grindhaug still did quite well to summon enough from a squad that looked out of their depth initially but improved as the season went on. Things are not looking too promising for them at the start of the new campaign as Haugesund have been one of the least active sides on the market and seem to be quite content to keep it all together from last season and not change too much. Yet, they did lose one of their best players from last season as breakout star Christos Zafeiris completed a move to Slavia Prague for a record sum of money. The hole he leaves in midfield has not really been filled and it remains to be seen how Grindhaug will navigate around his departure given the rather shallow options he has. In terms of arrivals, Swedish left-back Oscar Krusnell and Fulham youngster Adrion Pajaziti are the two that are expected to play a prominent role, with the other new additions very much hopeful bets that are unlikely to play too much. The likes of Bilal Njie and Mads Sande did well last season on the wings and will be expected to provide service for veteran Alexander Søderlund, while the return of Sondre Liseth after a year on the sidelines with a serious injury is a bonus in the attacking department. But there is overall very little to get excited about this Haugesund side and they seem set for a slog in the lower reaches of the table for the most part.
