After two consecutive years of Play-Off heartache, Karl Robinson and his MK Dons are getting ready for another push for the Championship. Last season, their task was made difficult by the fact that the best teams in the league were incredibly strong - third placed Sheffield United failed to win direct promotion with a point total that would've been enough for a top two finish in eight out of the last ten seasons, but this time around, the overall quality of the top teams is obviously lesser than last term, which is why the Dons are hoping for direct promotion. Robinson is obviously looking to stick to the foundations he set in the previous two seasons and build on them, as he opted for a summer of very limited transfer activity, with only four players signing(out of who Alan Smith was already at the club last season, on loan), and no players leaving. The new signings do seem to tick just the right boxes in the list of weaknesses of Robinson's side - the lack of defensive cover was a problem throughout the previous season, so Jon Otsemobor and Anthony Kay will certainly come in handy, while the Dons' strikers didn't exactly set the league on fire last term, so the experienced and proven Ryan Lowe should definitely prove to be an useful player to have in that department. Given that they have the same squad as last season with a few new faces and that they are well used to playing together, they will certainly expect to finish higher than they did in their previous campaign.

Target

Play-Offs at worse, preferably direct promotion. Given that they are used to playing together and that none of the newly relegated sides seems to be clearly better than them, there is no reason why they couldn't finish inside the top two.
