Molde could not retain the title last year after being blown away by that sensational Bodø/Glimt side but they start the new season as the main favourites to grab the trophy. They already played some competitive football in 2021, sensationally knocking out Hoffenheim in February in the Europa League and will be motivated to make a fast start in the campaign ahead and not let their competitors streak clear. Molde's squad remains probably the strongest and most complete in the entire league, even after losing Leke James in the close season, and there is enough competition for places to make Erling Moe confident in the abilities of his side. New attacking signing David Fofana has shown enough promise so far since joining and could well be a breakout start this season while the team has some top players at the back in goalie Andreas Linde, Martin Bjornbak and Stian Gregersen. It is hard to pinpoint too many weaknesses in this Molde side but they will surely hope to avoid the number of injuries that they had last season, something that certainly hampered them in their pursuit of the title.
