New York City FC enjoyed their best season as an MLS franchise, finishing the campaign at the top of Eastern Conference standings by picking up a record haul of points but once again stumbled in the playoffs where they failed to make it past the Conference semifinals. The club's biggest change in the off-season comes on the sidelines with Domenec Torrent deciding to leave at the end of last campaign and New York have acted quickly to bring in former Celtic manager Ronny Deila as his permanent replacement. There has been very little turnover in terms of the roster for New York with Ben Sweat the only player who was a regular last season departing the club. New York have held on to all of their big names and have bolstered their midfield options by bringing in Gedion Zelalam and Keaton Parks, with the latter signed from Benfica, while Gudmundur Thorarinsson will provide depth at the left back position. Continuity will prove to be a major asset for New York heading into the new season and Deila has reiterated that he is not looking to fix something that is not broken. However a change in approach to the game in terms of the head coach could see New York take some time to acclimatize though they should once again finish around the top of the Eastern Conference.

Target

Favorites for the top spot in the Eastern Conference once again though they will be looking to end their wait for some silverware this season.
