Osasuna won only one of their last nine games at the end of 2025/26 to end up avoiding relegation only on goal difference, leading to a change in coach, but not a major overhaul in the squad. Coach Alessio Lisci was invited to leave and Osasuna opted for experienced coach Ivan Ramis after his overachievement with Burgos in Segunda. At 56 he has never coached in the top flight, but his resume in the second tier is impressive. He will have to contend with a summer transfer window which has weakened his squad somewhat. Star man Victor Muñoz left for Liverpool early in the window as did experienced left-back Javi Galán, limiting the width of the side significantly. Only centre-forward Ante Budimir, who turned 35 this summer, had more goal involvements than Muñoz. Jonathan Dubasin arrives to ease the load on Budimir after scoring 17 and assisting four for Sporting Gijon in Segunda last season. El Sadar remains a fortress for Osasuna. They picked up a remarkable 1.7 points per game at home last season, the eighth-best in La Liga, and will hope to start the season strongly with two consecutive home fixtures in August against rivals Levante and Getafe. That will prove crucial for Osasuna if they are to avoid a battle against the drop, but a reliance on ageing Budimir and unproven talents from the division below could make that a big ask.
