Philadelphia Union enjoyed a fairly successful campaign last season, achieving their aim of making it to the playoffs but stumbled at the first hurdle itself as they bowed out in the knockout round. The biggest news on the transfer front for Philadelphia is Borek Dockal's departure following the end of his loan deal. Dockal had overcome a slow start to emerge as a key cog in Philadelphia's offense last season and will certainly be a big miss though the club has acted quickly to sign Marco Fabian from Eintracht Frankfurt. Other departures include Yaro, Marquez and Rosenberry while Herbers has been traded to Chicago Fire. Aurelien Collin has been brought in to provide experience to a young backline while Kai Wagner and Brenden Aaronson will offer options on the flanks. Consistency has been a problem for Philadelphia under Curtin who will be hoping his side can hit the ground running. There is also a gap in quality beyond the first choice 11 and that is something Philadelphia have struggled to correct during the off-season. However when in form, Philadelphia boast of one of the dynamic attacks in the Eastern Conference and that will be their biggest strength once again with the likes of Fafa Picault and Ilsinho providing pace and guile on the flanks while Burke and Sapong are reliable finishers.
