Genk overcame a disrupted start to mount a serious title challenge last season. Scraped into the top four play-offs but then proceeded to win five of their six play-off games and only lost out on the title as Club Brugge had finished higher than them in the regular season standings. Genk have had an excellent summer so far as they have managed to hang onto their best players although they continue to be linked with moves away. Paul Onuachu who hit 29 league goals last season has unsurprisingly caught the eye. In Onuachu, Junya Ito and Theo Bongonda, Genk currently have potentially the most dangerous front three in the league. In central midfield Genk seem to have an abundance of riches with star man Kristian Thorstvedt backed up by talented youngsters Luca Oyen and Pierre Domwoh. In terms of transfers in, John Van Den Brom has bolstered his squad in with mainly the addition of exciting young talent. In defence, new acquisition Sadick has the assets required to become a regular starter while Juklerod brings vital experience, he was regular for Antwerp last season and played in the Europa League. With the squad as it stands and going by the results achieved towards the end of last season, Genk certainly have the tools necessary to mount another serious title challenge. The only real question is can they be consistent enough over a full season.
