Swansea fans must feel like they are living in a fever dream at the moment, with Luka Modric and Snoop Dogg of all people becoming investors in the club. The American takeover that took place in November last season is what made it possible and having seen the success of fellow Welsh club Wrexham under celebrity ownership, Swans supporters can dare to dream of something more than the mid-table mediocrity that has plagued them in recent years. Luke Williams started his first full season in charge with plenty of backing from the fanbase after guiding the club to survival in the previous campaign, but a brief flirtation with the vacant West Brom job at the turn of the year saw him lose a lot of faith and momentum. Just one win from ten games to start 2025 saw Williams relieved of his duties. Assistant coach Alan Sheehan was drafted in for his second spell as interim-manager, having done a solid job after Michael Duff’s departure the previous campaign. The Irishman was even more impressive this time around, picking up 24 points from the final 13 games of the season (W7 D7 L3) to romp to safety and make sure he couldn’t be ignored for the permanent role this time around. The pressure will be different now for Sheehan as head coach and he is already facing some big challenges. Harry Darling has left the club and his centre-back partner Ben Cabango has picked up an injury in pre-season. Both were key performers for the Swans last season. New centre-backs Cameron Burgess and Ricardo Santos may have to gel as a defensive duo much quicker than expected. The club have spent decent money on winger Zeidane Inoussa and midfielder Ethan Galbraith but still look light up front. Liam Cullen was last season’s top scorer but isn’t an out-n-out striker.

Target

Plenty of excitement around Swansea but they shouldn’t get too far ahead of themselves. A top half finish and maybe a late push for the play-offs would be impressive.
